In Russia, children start school at age seven. First they learn in elementary school. It lasts four years. In elementary school children receive basic education, they learn to read, write and count. In fifth grade begins secondary education. Children begin to explore more complex subjects such as literature, chemistry, physics, biology, algebra, foreign languages, and others. Nine years of secondary education is compulsory in our country, but after nine years of education students are facing the first major decision in their lives.
