The demand for fabrics and technologies that provide warmth, Comfort and ease of movement with less bulk has substantially increased with the popularity of cold weather adventure sports, new trades and occupations demanding new kinds of working gears and growing number of disabled people in the world.

Nowadays many innovative fabrics with different properties have appeared in the marketplace. Among them there are fabrics protecting people from harmful influences of the environment.  They can provide warm or coolness when it is necessary and keep the weather in the comfortable temperature rage longer regulating the temperature between the body surface  and underwear. Moisture observant fabrics, comfortemp and thinsulate are the most popular insulators, each having its own peculiarities.

The latest innovation of the apparel and textile industry is considered to be moisture observant fabric capable of moisture management. This fabric is popular with manufacturing houses because  it absorbs all the moisture and sweat and moves it away. The sweat and moisture generated by a human body at the time of hard physical activity is usually locked between the skin and the cloth. This results  in increase of body temperature and even more sweating. The moisture observant fabric proves very useful in this case as it keeps skin very dry. The space between the fibers of the cloth acts as the tubes and sweat and moisture moves ahead through them. It helps to release out moisture more rapidly. Being the most reliable fabric, it has another useful quality so called moisture absorbent capacity which is very assistive in the process of moisture management. The higher rate of absorbency increases comfort level. This fabric is a product of a very advanced technology and has provide its usefulness in working  gears and sportswear.

Comfortemp is the brand name for intelligent  non-wovens into   which micro phase change materials have been integrated. They interactively react to changing  body or outside temperatures. MPCM are contained inside a durable microcapsule in the fabric. They are known to be substances that can change their physical state when temperature rises or drops. When the temperature rises above the preset temperature, the PCM turns from a solid into a liquid state. When the temperature drops below the preset level, the liquid PCM turns back to a solid state. Water is a good example of a PCM because it can change to steam or ice depending on its temperature. Being used in clothes for social purposes, footwear or military equipment, the material reacts to changing body heat or outside temperatures. Comfortemp® contains millions of mPCM. The PCM inside the micro capsules changes physical state because of a rise or drop in the temperature. As soon as the body releases too much heat during activities, the solid PCM will become liquid absorbing the excess heat. This process causes a cooling effect, when the temperature drops again, the liquid mPCM will return to its solid state and release the stored heat back to the body. The PCM inside the microcapsules reacts automatically to changes in the temperature providing the comfortable temperature zone for a consumer as long as it is necessary.

Many disabled people had difficulties in the past when it came to finding suitable clothes. Buying the clothing that is perfect for different types of disabilities doesn't have to be problematic. Today designing and manufacturing adaptive apparel for all occasions is becoming more and more popular because of the growing interest of designers to this problem of disabled people especially in the West. The designers take into account such factors as the possibilities for individuals confined to wheelchairs to dress themselves with little effort. For people who can't do without crutches or walking sticks a more unique line of apparel is available. Soft materials prevent rubbing or chafing where a crutch causes friction. Reinforced materials are also ideal. Special attention is paid to the choice of insulation materials, cut, closures and suitability for different disabilities. Clothes should be of high quality, attractive, affordable and accessible to this category of people. But there are still some constructive problems to be solved in the nearest future.

Some disabled people constantly feel the lack of warmth in the lower limbs, the individual feelings of "cold" and "dumb" because of the problems connected with the unadequate reaction of vessels on the outer irritant such as the air temperature. These factors can be explained by physiological peculiarities of the given group of customers that is atrophy of the muscular tissues of the lower part of the body, thin layer of the hypodermic adipose tissue, problems with capillary circulation of the blood connected, as a rule, with the local disturbed circulation of the blood in the lower limbs. At the same time the given part of the body is characterized by rather large area of the skin surface which releases the warmth. All said above proves the urgency of solving the problem of selecting the rational package of materials to design hip garments for the lower part of the body. The selection of Comfortemp® with its high insulation and temperature control properties for the purpose can be very helpful. Garments made with Comfortemp are less bulky, soft on the skin and functional. They are suitable for use in abruptly changing weather conditions, compressed if necessary and laundered without destruction of the special qualities of the mPCM non-woven fabric.
