    Контрольная работа по английскому языку предназначена для студентов 1-го курса заочной формы обучения

    Общие требования к выполнению контрольной работы

    Все предлагаемые к выполнению задания (включая текст на английском языке) переписываются на левой стороне разворота тетради, а выполняются на правой.

    Контрольная работа должна быть написана четким подчерком, для замечаний преподавателя следует оставить поля.

    ВАРИАНТ 1

    1. Прочитайте текст и переведите в письменной форме абзацы 2, 5. Ответьте на следующие вопросы:

    1. How many theme parks are open in Japan now?

    2. What does the theme park 'The town of Ten Dutchmen' look like?

    3. What is the reason of its popularity?

    4. What do other theme parks in Japan offer?

    5. What is the concept of 'The town of Ten Dutchmen' to remain profitable? 

    DUTCH DREAMLAND

    1. Japanese and Asian tourists no longer need to go to Europe now that 80 theme parks are open in Japan. 'The town of Ten Dutchmen' has a network of canals with beautiful bridges, windmills and watermills. It has a shop selling large round cheeses. It could only be in Holland, but it is not. This town is in Japan, and it's the country's most successful theme park.

    2. Last year four million tourists visited the town to experience this near perfect recreation of Dutch life. It is also growing in popularity with visitors from the rest of Asia. The reason for its appeal is simple -- it gives visitors the opportunity to experience Europe without the difficulties of long-distance traveling.

    3. This town is a development of the traditional theme park concept which visitors leave the real world behind as they explore a fantasy environment. Real Dutch people dressed in traditional Dutch costumes are employed to mingle with the crowds. Visitors can take a relaxed boat drive along the canals or stay overnight in one of the hotels.

    4. Other theme parks in Japan offer a similar fantasy experience of countries like Russia, Canada, Turkey and Spain. Also, a medieval German town, Gluck's kingdom, has been created in the north of Japan. Visitors can explore a complete Swiss village where the mountains, at least, are real.

    5. But the cost of creating these near-perfect towns is high, and park operators need to make a profit. There is also plenty of competition among parks in Japan to attract visitors, and they need to continually update their displays and add new sights. Creators of 'The town of Ten Dutchmen' have come up with their own scheme to remain profitable. They are now offering a chance to live in the town permanently. A complex of apartment buildings at the edge of the park has been built, and lots of new flats have been sold. The complex is also served by its own hi-tech ecological power station, and all cables have been carefully hidden underground. Even the water in canals is constantly recycled. Creators of 'The town of Ten Dutchmen' hope it will soon be a real community.

    JOINT VENTURES

    1. One of the latest trends in business is for two or more corporations (often from different countries) to form strategic alliances to accomplish some objectives. A joint venture, then, is an effort of two or more business firms to capture new markets through cooperation and shared investment risk. This enables world markets to benefit from the expertise of all nations business people working together.

    2. For example, "GM" ("General Motors") joined with "Toyota" to assemble "Geo Prisms" and "Toyota Corollas" in Fremont, California. Such agreements are known as joint ventures or strategic alliances, and are taking place all over the world.

    3. In other areas, McDonald's formed a net of joined ventures in many countries of the world to franchise fast-food restaurants. "Walt Disney Productions" and "Oriental Land" in Japan created Tokyo Disneyland, a theme park much like the Disney parks in America.

    4. A joint venture has a limited liability. It should be self-supported and self-financing. In our country, joint ventures offer foreign investors direct access to the Russian market. It may be set up in any branch of economy: agriculture, industry, trade, construction, service sector, etc.

    5. A joint venture becomes a juridical person after it has been registered with the Ministry of Finance. The foundation documents and the Feasibility Study are the most important documents for the application procedure.

    6. The foundation documents include the Agreement between the partners on the establishment of a joint venture and the Charter Statute of a joint venture. These documents outline the legal status of a joint venture, the funds raised and some other aspects. The Feasibility Study is prepared by the partners involved. It covers the objective of a company, the working capital, the product to be manufactured, the marketing possibilities, the technical back-up of a project.

    7. Only after registration the company may open a bank account and conclude agreements and contracts in its own name.

    Задание 5. Замените придаточные предложения причастными оборотами.

As I was very busy, I couldn't help them. 5. I live in a house which was built more than a hundred years ago. 

    Задание 6. Выберите из скобок требующуюся форму причастия.

    Задание 7. Переведите предложения на английский язык, обращая внимание на употребление Participle I или Participle II. 1. Работая над переводом этой статьи, я узнал много интересного из истории старых английских городов. 2. Она шла по незнакомым улицам, с интересом разглядывая здания. 3. Джон подошел к смеющейся девочке. 4. «Дженерал Моторс», объединившись с компанией «Тойота», создали компанию «Тойота Королла» в Калифорнии. 5. Организовав совместное предприятие, они начали свой бизнес в России.
