Clutch

The clutch enables the operator to control the power of the engine, to connect the power to gears and shafts which carry it to drive wheels, and to disconnect the engine power from these parts when desired. There are several types of clutches in use: mechanical, hydraulic, electromagnetic. Clutches can also be divided into single-plate, double-plate and multi-plate units.

The clutch is attached to the rare face of the flywheel. When the clutch plate is turning with the flywheel, the clutch is engaged. When it is not turning, the clutch is released.

The engine clutch consists of two plates or two sets of plates held in contact with each other by powerful springs or levels. One of the two plates or sets of plates is driven by the engine: the other is locked with the gears of the gearbox by means of a shaft.

The clutch is usually operated by means of a foot pedal or a hand lever. By pressing the clutch pedal the two plates are forced apart against the pressure of springs, so that the plate connected to the engine can rotate without driving the plate connected to the gearbox. When the clutch is released the gear shift lever can be used to select one of several speed ratios. When the clutch is engaged again, the drive to the rear wheels or tracks is complete, and the vehicle moves.

ЗАДАНИЕ № 31

Составьте  рассказ из 10 – 15 предложений на темы: «The university I study at» «Rostov-  on - Don»

Two years ago I left my secondary school, where I got my education at home. Now I live in the city of Rostov- on - Don and study in the University. In my composition I’ll try to give my opinion on my University. Firstly, I would like to compare DGTU with other universities of our city. It is considered to be the best university of our city and one of the best universities of our country. There are lots of different faculties in our university: they are philology, economy, mathematics and others. Many people get a good education there. I realized that I should study there and my parents wanted me to enter it. Concerning my lecturers-I find them great, because practically all of them are specialists who know more than one foreign language. Everyone has a good command of teaching. Each of them is different and we treat him/her differently. I admire all my teachers, because they are very talented and interesting people.
