Hero
Cities (Города Герои)
During
the Great Patriotic War the Soviet people fought heroically defending
their Motherland. The fascists were defeated near Moscow and near Leningrad,
near Tula and in Volgograd. And they suffered heavy losses, at the walls
of Kiev, Odessa, Sevastopol, Kerch, Novorossiisk. That’s why all these
cities were named Hero Cities.
Today
these Hero Cities are visited by many Soviet people and by friends from
other countries. They go there to see the places of heroic struggle.
They leave flowers at the foot of the monuments to those who did not
come back from the war.
When
schoolchildren and young people visit a Hero City, they learn how love
their Socialist country, how to fight for its happiness.

время Великой Отечественной
Войны Советский народ героически сражался,
защищая Родину. Фашисты были разгромлены
под Москвой, под Ленинградом, в районе
Тулы и в Волгограде. И они понесли тяжелые
потери, у стен Киева, Одессы, Севастополя,
Керчи, Новороссийска. Вот почему все эти
города были названы Города-герои.
Сегодня
эти Города-герои посещают много советских
людей, и с друзьями из других стран. Они
едут туда, чтобы увидеть места героической
борьбы. Они оставляют цветы у подножия
памятников для тех, кто не вернулся с
войны.
Когда
школьники и молодежь посещают Города-Герои,
они учатся, как любить свою страну, как
бороться за свое счастье.
