    • Was a Russian electrical engineer and inventor, one of inventors of the incandescent light bulb.

incandescent lamp

    •  Incandescent lamp  is an electric light which produces light with a filament wire heated to a high temperature by an electric current passing through it, until it glows (see Incandescence).

Lodygin`s idea

    • In 1872, Russian Alexander Lodygin invented an incandescent light bulb and obtained a Russian patent in 1874. He used as a burner two carbon rods of diminished section in a glass receiver, hermetically sealed, and filled with nitrogen, electrically arranged so that the current could be passed to the second carbon when the first had been consumed.

In russia

    • July 2, 2009 at a meeting in Arkhangelsk State Council Presidium on increasing energy efficiency, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has proposed a ban on the sale of incandescent lamps Russia.

advantages and disadvantages

    • By luminous efficiency light bulbs, certainly inferior to discharge light source (fluorescent lamp), but they are easier to use (do not require starters and complex fittings) and they have virtually no restrictions on the voltage and power. The annual production of incandescent light bulbs in the world reached 10 billion pieces, a number of varieties of 2000.
