Система образования Великобритании развивалась на протяжении многих столетий и в настоящий момент подчинена строгим стандартам качества.
Образование в Великобритании является обязательным для всех граждан в возрасте от 5 до 16 лет. Существует два сектора образования: государственный (бесплатное образование) и частный (платные учебные заведения).

2.Изучить структуру образования и его этапы;
3. Выявить сходства и отличия;
4.Подробно изучить итоговые экзамены на получение документа о среднем образовании;
5.Провести параллель в образовании Великобритании и США.

History of the University.
The University of Manchester has been created by bringing together The Victoria University of Manchester and University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology , two of Britain's most distinguished universities, to create a powerful new force in British Higher Education.
Manchester has a long tradition of excellence in Higher Education. UMIST can trace its roots back to 1824 and the formation of the Manchester Mechanics' Institute, whilst The Victoria University of Manchester was founded as Owens College in 1851.

Телесные наказания в школах были запрещены в Великобритании с 1986 года.
В целом система образования делится на три основные ступени:
1. начальное образование; для детей до 11 лет;
2. среднее образование; для детей до 16 лет;
3. высшее или дальнейшее образование; для детей после 16 лет.

In England and Wales compulsory school begins at the age of five, but before that age children can go to a nursery school, also called play school. School is compulsory till the children are sixteen old. In Primary School and first school children learn to read and write and the basis of arithmetic. In the higher classes of Primary School (or in middle school) children learn geography, history, religion and foreign language. Then children go to the Secondary school. When students are sixteen years old they may take an exam in various subjects in order to have a qualification.

Great Britain has no written constitution and that is why the system of education is determined by the National Acts. Education in England and Wales is nearly the same, while in Scotland and Northern Ireland the systems are different. The majority of schools are supported by public funds and education in them is free. Most parents choose to send their children to these schools, but there are also a great number of fee-paying private or “independent” (“public”) schools.

Great Britain doesn't have a written constitution, so there are no constitutional provisions for education. The system of education is determined by the National Education Acts. Schools in England are supported from public funds paid to the local education authorities. These local education authorities are responsible for organizing the schools in their areas. If we outline the basic features of public education in Britain, firstly we'll see that in spite of most educational purposes England & Wales are treated as one unit, though the system in Wales is a different from that of England. Scotland & Nothern Ireland have their own education systems.
